A Birthday Drive and a Sunset Walk

I'm so glad I was born in October. And I'm even more glad that I moved to Wisconsin, where every year Nature throws me the best party ever.

Here's how she decorated for my birthday last week. Sunlight filtered through maple leaves:

Billows of green and gold, with waves of red sumac below:

Silvery glimpses of Lake Wisconsin from a windy hilltop:

Deep rustling leaves:

Gloriously-coloured bends in the road:

Byways carpeted and roofed with gold:

Standing corn and autumn-tinted trees under blue-grey skies:

Rolling emerald carpets:

And breathtaking bluffs:

To top it all off, she put on a smashing sunset:

Look at the lights twinkling out from amongst the trees:

It was a glorious day.

  1. Happy belated birthday ......you sure did get a nice show from Mother Nature.

My birthday was last week too ----- Mother Nature is a little late delivering "my fall gift". My colors change sometimes as late as January! LOL

  2. I've heard that people love their birth season. Mine is summer and I look forward to it all year. The mild weather where I live has delayed the autumn colours. I went out to see some last week and had to give up. I'll try again soon.

  3. Happy belated birthday, and thanks so much for sharing these beautiful photos. I was born in deepest mid winter, I really do love the cooler seasons of winter and autumn best of all.

  10. Happy Birthday, you're right, that's quite a spectacular show Wisconsin put on for you. Now if it could just skip winter and head on to spring, that would be perfect.

  11. Happy birthday. It looks like you had perfect October weather for your birthday - definitely my kind of weather and colours. Mine is January - good if there's snow, but it is often just soggy and cold! Juliex

  16. First a belated Happy Birthday. And yes Nature did provide the most beautiful backdrop for your special day. We are so fortunate living here in the north(east) with all the deciduous trees that put on a splendid show.
My birthday usually has a very white backdrop!

  20. Wowsers! You're having a gorgeous leaf year! We have some.. then other years the wind blows the leaves off before they turn and it's NOT a good leaf year. We just had such a storm and trees were toppling all over town. Thanks for sharing YOURS.. and your photos are magic. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
