I've tried planting them in the current digs, partially to fend off grasshoppers, and the grasshoppers eat them.

Like your sweet gift, however, I, too, found some pleasant surprises growing in a pot of mint after my garden scorched while I was away and I watered and watered and watered to see if anything would pop back. One lavender mint pot also blooms with brilliant orange and gold now! They are very tiny, possibly due to altitude, but they are growing and making seeds!Snowcatcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06360228352528558176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-366775845290776474.post-73778822253634622342012-09-01T09:03:05.886-05:002012-09-01T09:03:05.886-05:00I thought so. ;)I thought so. ;)Mrs. Micawberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08680436275934263596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-366775845290776474.post-22719243438724779632012-09-01T09:02:48.641-05:002012-09-01T09:02:48.641-05:00For some reason I've never grown nasturtiums -...For some reason I've never grown nasturtiums - but they are such cheerful little flowers. :)Mrs. Micawberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08680436275934263596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-366775845290776474.post-71865530271885554532012-09-01T09:01:47.385-05:002012-09-01T09:01:47.385-05:00Thanks Tammy, you too. :)Thanks Tammy, you too. :)Mrs. Micawberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08680436275934263596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-366775845290776474.post-78378959549505712662012-08-31T21:19:03.214-05:002012-08-31T21:19:03.214-05:00Marigold has long been a favourite of mine too. :)...Marigold has long been a favourite of mine too. :)Marigoldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10109785080000770963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-366775845290776474.post-1059215084612832352012-08-31T10:04:47.639-05:002012-08-31T10:04:47.639-05:00So cheery and bright, I agree with Annie completel...So cheery and bright, I agree with Annie completely.

I quite like nasturtiums for the same reason and they are excellent at self seeding, I remember one year when I was a kid they popped up everywhere from every little gap in the slabs....so pretty in their scatterdness.*https://www.blogger.com/profile/10821840185143701654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-366775845290776474.post-55296523094006797842012-08-31T07:45:16.989-05:002012-08-31T07:45:16.989-05:00I had a marigold plant that died yet I still conti...I had a marigold plant that died yet I still continued to water and after a while it started to grow again. But then the heat got to it and no amount of watering helped. We usually only are able to have them during the winter months so will find them for sale closer to that time. So nice to see that yours surprised you with bright and beautiful blooms. Have a great weekend. I get the same happening in my window boxes: blue lobelia, tiny pansies and snapdragons always re-seed themselves for my greatest joy! I even have a re-seeded snapdragon growing in my big pot of rosemary and lobelia is growing in with the mint!
