A Handful of Summer

What the Midwestern gardener dreams about through the long cold days of winter:


The first harvest of fresh tomatoes. Mine are tiny grape tomatoes - living garnets nestled with fresh basil, the king of herbs. (Hobnobbing with culinary royalty is what fresh tomatoes do best.)

What to do with this rare and precious gift? Eat it for breakfast.
