When I started this blog almost 4 years ago, I had no idea where it might take me. I certainly had no idea I'd ever see this on the dashboard:
At this rate, by next week there will probably be a large (and largely unbelievable) 2-with-a-bunch-of-zeroes-behind-it on my Blogger screen.
Another important number looming in the Micawber household: 55. This month Mr. M will hit the speed limit of birthdays. He plans to celebrate by shaving off his winter beard. (As his beard has gone mostly grey, this will immediately knock ten years off his appearance - a smart way to take the sting out of getting older.)
Big numbers aren't the only noteworthy ones. 3 years ago this month my mom passed from this earthly life to her new forever life. I can't imagine what she is seeing or hearing, but someday I'll find out. And I'll get to hug her again.
There's something about anniversaries, about the numbers both big and small with which we mark the events of life, that compels emotion in the human heart: whether it be awe, excitement, wistfulness, or merely surprise that such a thing should be, that so much time should have gone by, that so much should have happened almost without our being aware of it. My heart is full of all of these this February.

In March, this blog will turn 4. Time to start planning a giveaway, I think. :)
Are there any important numbers in your life this month?

*C*O*N*G*R*A*T*U*L*A*T*I*O*N*S*!* on nearly a million page views! Of course I had to go look at mine and I have 552,424. I have a ways to go. *H*A*P*P*Y* * *B*I*R*T*H*D*A*Y*!*!*!* for your husband... that's actually young, compared to all of us who are older already. Nothing big this month.. that I can think of. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteApart from wanting to make it safely through Friday 13th, I am keeping everything crossed for the 14th. It will be the first Valentine's Day since my daughter met her lovely boyfriend and they are very happy together. Hubby and I are hoping it will become permanent!
ReplyDeleteThe number of the day here is nine. It's the middle boy's birthday and we're all terribly excited, Well done on almost two million page views, that's quite incredible, but very well deserved. Happy birthday to your husband for later on in the month, I hope it's a good one. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you on your pageviews ( astounding !!) and your hub's birthday. Compared to those of us here at Wetcreek, he is just a "young'un." Time passes too quickly for me these days. Wish I could slow it down a bit. Those are the only numbers that really interest me. Have a great Valentine's Day tomorrow! Linda@Wetcreek Blog
ReplyDeleteThose page view numbers! Staggering to be sure. Congratulations to you.
ReplyDeleteI am sending happy birthday wishes to the Mr. M. May he have a glorious day and many, many more to follow.
It's been quite a while since I saw 55, sigh.
February marks the month when I lost my daddy so very long ago, but he is amazingly alive in my heart and mind.
Have a wonderful weekend, Sue.
Congrats Mrs. M on 2,000,000 views!! Yes, that's a handful of zeros. Happy B-day Mr. M! For what it's worth, my beard grows out grey too. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of page views, but I'm not surprised. I love your Blog and have read every post since I found you. 55 was a while back for me, but I remember it fondly. As my mother-in-law use to say, "At 55 I could still climb trees.' She probably could too.
ReplyDeleteOur special number this year is 50, the number of years we've been married, been in love even longer than that. We're trying to do something special each month for it.
Wow!! Anniversaries to celebrate and to make us wistful/sad. Enjoy the happy ones! And treasure the memories.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you this morning when I was putting on all my layers...take heart! Tomorrow is supposed to be colder, right? ;-)
I, too, am not surprised at all to see your page hits grow so dramatically. Keep it up! You have a fantastic thing going here!
ReplyDeleteAnd I had no idea Mr. M and I share not only this month, but the same year?!?!?!?!? How in the heck did that happen?!? :)
We have a couple of very poignant anniversaries this month, too; both were last week, same day, and I didn't realize until the day was past. So there is hope. The time will come when you can remember the sweetness instead of the loss. From the voice of experience...
Happy Valentines Day to two of my favorite people!
Wow, that's a lot of views. Congratulations! Hmm...the only number I can think of for this month is that 10 years ago (on Groundhog Day), I learned that I was pregnant with my first child. So that's something. :) I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing number. You are so talented, funny, warm and inviting of course everyone wants to visit you. Happy Birthday to Mr. M, 55 is young! Happy Valentine's Day SUe.

Dear Sue,
ReplyDeleteI am so very glad to read of your joy and MUCH deserved success. I'm sending you heartfelt congratulations from my corner of France.
Stephanie
That is a number to be doubly proud of! We have John's birthday coming up, not a momentous number but getting bugger by the year! John's beard is year-round and becoming increasingly grey (as is my hair), but it doesn't really show with his red hair......my grey is very apparent though in amongst my dark brown! I like the idea of growing a beard seasonally but it must feel strange for a while when it goes! Juliex
ReplyDeleteWhat a landmark! And very well deserved, this is a lovely blog.

Congratulations Sue that is a very impressive amount of pageviews just goes to show how very popular your lovely blog is. Happy Birthday to you your hubby, the only important dates for me this month are three of my friends birthdays we usually go out for a meal to celebrate so something to look forward too, have a lovely valentines weekend. :) xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, on the high stats and the forthcoming birthdays.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all those page views. Goodness, that's a lot. :) When I read about your Mom, I put my hand on my heart and felt such a connection to you...understanding in my own way the feelings of the loss of my own Mama. There is void there in the heart, that nothing and no one can or should replace...but as you said, one day, face to face we will all hug again, and share our joys for there will never be sorrows again in Heaven. Blessings to you always sweet friend. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Time for the goat to start writing again. :)
ReplyDeleteDear Sue, congratulations, such an unbelievably high number of pageviews! I do love your blog a lot and I am a regular reader of your posts. My grandfather, who is now dead for two and a half years woud have turned 90 this month. I often think about him, he was an impressive man. Happy birthday to your man! Viola
ReplyDeleteWell done on the stats. It will be a very long time before mine reach anything like yours. My mother died almost 21 years ago. It seems so long ago but I still think about her and use many of her possessions every day. It will be great to see her again. Happy birthday to your husband.
ReplyDeleteSue, what a feat! Nearly 2 million - hard to grasp. Makes Mr. M's number of years on earth seem tiny. Best wishes to him on the day, and many happy returns.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother's birthday was Feb. 21, 1899 - I still think of her often.
And my wish is that your mom is her whole self again after such a challenging end of life - now free from earthly bonds. I know how lucky I am that my parents are still healthy and happy.
xxoo to you!
