The northern giant sleeps
and in his place comes dancing,
rosy and ruffled,
a gypsy wind from the south
Tossing buds like confetti
onto winter-bare twigs, she
drops a green shawl
on the ground and laughs

P.S. To readers of yesterday's post who are wondering about the Very Special Ride: all will be explained in my next post.

Oh, I do so hope for a southern wind, it has been from the north east for far too long.
ReplyDeleteNice poetry.
Thank you! When I saw the words "southwest wind" in the weather forecast I simply had to write this poem. Such a lovely feeling after months of icy north winds.
DeleteHope your wind changes soon! :)
Beautiful signs that Spring is on the way.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Thank you, Meredith. :)
DeleteFinally! The southern gypsy is on her way! She's leaving much hyacinth at my door... literally!
ReplyDeleteI shall be on the lookout for hyacinth photos....

Truly lovely. Seventeenth-century masques and ballets spring to mind when I read your southern wind description.
ReplyDeleteStephanie
Thank you, Stephanie. I could see her in my mind's eye ... the gypsy ... in her ruffled red dress and green shawl, with grass springing up under her feet as she danced. :)
DeleteIf only she'd drop a green shawl on the ground over here!
ReplyDeleteLovely post Sue :D
It's more of a green-flecked shawl - but that didn't scan as well. :)
DeleteThanks Annie!
Such a pretty blue sky. We have dust and blah to greet the start of our Spring Break. :/ Have a great day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteThanks Tammy - you too. :)
Delete"Beautiful signs that Spring is on the way."
ReplyDeleteSurely it is coming soon.
Golly I hope so! Thanks, Nelson.
