As Seen in Interweave Crochet

Gosh, Interweave Crochet Fall 2014 has been out for weeks, and I haven't blogged about it yet? Very remiss of me.

It's a great issue that includes two smashing cardigan patterns, a really striking skirt, several creative vests, and plenty of fun accessories. And four collar patterns, one of which is mine:

Stitched in Firefly by Classic Elite Yarns, the Ruth Collar is 6 rounds of quirky crochet indulgence. I managed to work in many of my favourite lesser-known techniques: Forward Loop Chains, Forward Loop Picots, Twisted Stitch, Twisted Loops, and a completely crazy (but very easy) hook-twirling technique used on the final row to bring the wrong-side beads to the right side.

AND I made the button myself. :)

The final button is shown above; the prototype can be seen below. (Unfortunately the prototype had to be dismantled as I was running short on the cinnamon-coloured beads. But you get the general idea.) I'll post a tutorial for the beaded button later this month.

  1. What a beautiful collar! I need to make some of those as I wear mock turtle tops all winter and they are SO boring! Pretty cool that you are a published designer! I will celebrate ILYD by admiring my monumental stash of yarn. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
