In
ev'ry
skein of yarn,
a project lies
dreaming, waiting for
the touch of a loving
hand, the kiss of needle or
hook - which alone can break the spell,
wake the project from enchanted sleep,
and stitch it into loveliness and life.

This post is my paean to the beauty that sleeps in every ball of yarn.
It's also my entry in the "Something a Bit Different" category
of the 2012 Knitting and Crochet Blog Week.
To enjoy an outpouring of creativity from knitters and crocheters
all over the world, Google 3KCBWDAY5.
P.S. If you liked my poem, would you consider
nominating it for the "Creative Post" award?
(I have already nominated someone else
but would love to get in the competition myself.)
If you get a message saying the information
has already been received, that means
my name is already in the hat.
Thanks!

Very poetic and true!! Joan
ReplyDeleteLovely poem....I've been thinking recently about how yarn can make or break a project...it's nice to see the potential in a new skein and then watching the project grow while the skein gets smaller.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness.. the prettiest thing I have ever read!

Nominated you before reading the comments and seeing that someone else had, but the nomination was accepted ... odd. Anyhoo, you're in the hat now if you weren't before. The notion that there is a project trapped by enchantment in every ball of yarn is such a lovely one :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful etheree!
ReplyDeleteWent to nominate you then thought you were for sure already nominated so checked comments. I could never have said it so well, but I always think the yarn wants to be made into something.
