Just a Bit of Sunshine...

...can make all the difference.

The world has been looking rather grey lately. A friend received some scary health news and is having an MRI today.

Mother's Day is coming up, but there will be no phone call to Mom this year (or ever again).

The weather has been damp, and cloudy, and thundery for days on end. No wonder this little guy is hiding out in a flower:

(I can't think of a better place, can you? Except possibly a warm beach.)

But right now we're enjoying a bit of blue skies and sun, and suddenly the whole world looks better.

Things are growing outside. Things good to eat...

...and things beautiful to behold.

More clouds are rolling in. Another storm is predicted for this afternoon - but it will pass.

The sun will come out again...

...and the flowers will be all the brighter for the rain.

To the Goatmother, with loving thoughts and prayers

  1. A sad blog in many ways...it makes me think of the passing not just of time ... but... perhaps ... opportunities?? I don't know..... Joan

  2. We too had a few rays of sunshine here in my corner of the world. It does make all the difference.

  3. You're right, the flowers will be brighter for the rain.....quickly whispered prayers are heard, tears are not shed in vain, he stores them in jars....

  4. We know of one flower who will be brighter. :) If for no other reason than knowing such wonders exist in the world. But you know what? Mom can still hear that phone call. You just need to make it with an invisible phone. And then listen really hard...

I love Faith's words! I understand that. Peanuts are stored in jars too. :)

  5. I'm with Marigold. Make that call! You can even buy flowers if you want (or cut them, whatever), and put them on your table, and I guarantee she will be enjoying those blooms right alongside you!

We've had rain, too, and it's been so fabulous. The ground, the trees and the flowers needed it so desperately! Plus, it washes the gnats out of my eyes...

  6. Blue skies and sunshine do rather set everything right in the world. Beautiful flowers and growing good things to eat certainly help, too. We've had rather strange weather for May so far. Hope you have a great rest of the week. Tammy

  9. It's a cliché isn't it, life's ups and downs, but kinda' comforting all the same to know that along the way there is inevitable rebalancing. And even the saddest of us can be lifted at least a little by the sight of a flower after rain.
