Blogroll vs. the Reading List ~ a Brief Blogger Rant (with Bonus Cabbage Photo)

I'm so glad I added a blogroll to my sidebar. Otherwise, I'd be missing posts right and left. Here's an example:

Annie and Regula have each posted something, but there's no sign of it on my Reading List. What's up with that? Is there some kind of transatlantic delay?

Does anyone else have this problem?

Such a grouchy post - I can't publish it like this. How to redeem it? Off to the photo file for something pretty or fun or interesting....

And here we are - a rather gorgeous cabbage shot:

I usually slice cabbages from pole to pole, so to speak, but for some reason sliced this one crossways. (Equator-wise?) I never knew a humble cabbage could look so amazing - if not a Golden Spiral, at least a very lovely purple-and-white one.

There. That's better. :)

(But I'd still like to know if anyone else is missing posts on their Reading List.)

  1. Oh Mrs. Micawber I can always rely on you to leave lovely comments on my post. Thank you so much. Scared of knitting socks? I found the mitts much harder. I've knitted quite a few socks and found it easy enough, if it's a plain pattern. Notice I didn't say pair of socks! That's because I always get bored and very rarely finish the second one. So even though I love wearing handknit socks, I always end up having to wear odd ones!!

PS I always thought that the inside of a red cabbage was really beautiful too. Great minds think alike. Hope nobody says simple ones seldom differ!

    1. I shall have to gird up my loins one day and cast on a sock.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one to find beauty in cabbages! :)

  2. Sue, you are witty, soothing balm for the tired blogger's mind.

Lovely cabbage and, yes, I too have missing blog posts. You are not alone but you probably knew that deep down inside, right?

    1. Yes - but sometimes it's nice to be reassured. Thanks, Stephanie. :)

  3. I don't know about your blogging problems but I can tell you that if you take photos of cabbages you are my kind of gal! I love that shot!

  4. I miss them all the time. I will be reading away and realize I have missed the previous post, I can never understand that. And because I am a blogging dork, I can not even begin to figure out how to fix it.
    Hugs,
    Meredith

    1. Okay, so it's not just me. (It's Blogger!)

You're not a blogging dork, Meredith - you just spend your time on better things. :)

  5. We all miss blog posts I think ... the technology clearly isn't reliable ... thank goodness for the humble cabbage, I find a good brassica never lets you down ;)

That shot is fascinating Sue :D

    1. Thanks, Annie. "Brassica" is such an interesting word, and much classier than "cabbage". :)

  6. Seems I constantly miss blog posts. In fact, there are some bloggers that I can't even put into my reader! Hope it helps to know you are not alone :)

    1. I can put bloggers in, but Blogger constantly takes them back out again. Grrr!

  7. I'm with Sandy; I have blogs that won't even show up in my reader. And I've been doing exactly what you are doing for a while now. I find the sidebar to be more accurate! Now, if only I can make the time to check THAT a little more often... :)

That is such a beautiful cabbage photo! Very crochet inspirational, don't you think???

    1. Hmmmm... I think perhaps a Brassica Snowflake, in hand-dyed yarn, might be in order. :)

  8. Yes, I have too and vice verse. What is with that?

Luckily, I did not miss that beautiful cabbage!

  9. Don't think I'm missing posts, but am finding people seem to be posting less, so........who knows!!
Love the cabbage pic Sue. When I did oil painting classes a couple of years ago we painted wedges of red cabbage and beautiful orange pumpkins and now I can't look at vegies just as something to eat any more. A work of art waiting to be captured in paint...

    1. I think most veggies are beautiful. (Perhaps not the really warty squashes, but pretty much everything else.) :)

  10. Oy. Well, I *thought* you had been unusually silent...until...I looked and realized you had AGAIN been deleted from my reading list!!! Perhaps there are gremlins in Blogger? Nonetheless, I have added you back AGAIN. What did you do with the cabbage, by the way? I LOVE cabbage. :)

    1. I think there are gremlins. You keep disappearing from my list too. :(

The cabbage was sliced very thinly and included in a filling for spring rolls. :)

  11. Which part of your computer makes the 'tocka' sound?

I always read off my sidebar as I tend to notice things better, although maybe not as regularly recently as times have been a little busy!
