Ridiculous urge ...
to leave the water running
while I brush my teeth

  1. Yes! That urge happens to me all the time - almost as natural as opening your mouth wide whilst applying mascara (although I don't wear any anymore since I seem to have become allergic).

I always have to make a mental note to myself to close the tap especially as we are supposed to be brushing our teeth for three whole minutes.

    Have a good day!

  2. Oh, yeah, just because it sounds so soothing! Back in the days of apartment living, I had a button on the shower head I could turn the water off while I was shampooing...

  3. You gals are so funny. It's a bad habit left over from childhood, when we weren't concerned with conserving water. Somehow (and this is very stupid) it almost seems as though my teeth will get cleaner if the water runs loudly during the process. How silly is that?

Stephanie - I'd forgotten the mascara thing but you're absolutely right (I haven't worn it for years). Where do these absurd reflexes come from?

Deb - I love hearing the shower run. It's amazingly soothing. Too bad it's unjustifiable.

  4. I fight the urge to leave the water running every time I brush too.
And I thought it was just me.

  5. I'm right there with you all!!! It's definitely a holdover from the days when running water wasn't so bad. I had to get over that feeling that my teeth wouldn't get as clean, too!!! lol!!! Glad it's not just me!!! I've got 2 kiddos watching over me so the water gets turned off so I don't have to hear it from them!!!! ;)
